Not long to go. Looking forward to a good night out.
TimMemberWe had the place to ourselves which helped. I really enjoy practicing on one particular feature and working on different skills in a controlled environment. All of the skills are transferable to new rivers and features. For example last week Dave practised at Jackfields using paddle strokes on the downstream side to move into the flow. He then used a similar technique at Mile End to get across waves and stoppers. On the bottom wave/stopper he found out that by increasing the length of each paddle stroke he was cruising across. Hopefully he will now take that forward to new situations that present themselves in the future.
TimMemberI like the look of the garry gary. This is dam release and the dates are published online for those that dont know. Looks like a great adventure. Nice one mate.
TimMemberWe will meet again Nige!
In a few months im expecting to see a few lads cruising from one eddy to another on the upper t and those core skills can be practised at jackfields, Next Autumn im hoping for a club trip to the Glaslyn. Come on guys!TimMemberThat’s great Geoff. I would go further afield myself but cant due to other commitments. Dave Y was saying that he plans to start going to Jackfields on Tuesday evenings now that the nights are lighter. I will attempt to make those sessions as well.
TimMemberNice report nige. I thought you may have written us a poem this week. Ok, maybe next time! I had a chat with rich d today and we are both really impressed with the enthusiasm of the paddlers and the direction the club is going at the moment.
On a personal level I really enjoyed standing on the bank chatting about features , lines, paddle strokes etc. I hope it made sense guys. I must stress that this is only my opinion on how to do stuff. Ive never been coached on whitewater apart from my first half dozen paddles.Ricki impressed me with his desire to get into different eddies and challenge himself. Dave impressed me with his improving body position and increasing stroke rate. Paul impressed me with his increased understanding of river markers and key strokes and body position. Loz impressed me with his whitewater rolls.
The guys started being critical of themselves and new when they had done something wrong or right. That means the coach is no longer needed, and thats the aim.
Keep challenging yourselves.

TimMemberOne for me please staying at Camp Nigel on the Friday and Saturday night.
TimMember7pm start please
TimMemberAnyone else joining?
TimMemberPlease make an effort to attend the meeting. You will have an opportunity to see the chairman swim on the big screen for starters! Its a good opportunity to discuss the direction the club is going in, annual membership, planned trips and so on. Don’t be shy coming forward with ideas.
TimMemberYou may not know this but the chair and treasurer are two year positions and having looked through last years minutes Ive discovered that myself and mick will be serving the club again for the next 12 months. This means we need to vote in a deputy chair, secretary, safeguarding officer and equipment officer. Nick will stand down from the secretary position if the post can be filled by a suitable person. Please let us know if your interested and give me a call for a chat if you like. Some of you may not be aware but Paul took up the post of Safeguarding Officer during the year, has had a CRB check and has been a good addition to the committee. During the past year Barry has been serving as Equipment Officer and Rich as Deputy Chair.
TimMemberLike it. Cheers Chucky. I will post up the info tomorrow on here.
TimMemberKind words Chucky. Thank you.
