Great Video Geoff. For this section of river the EA gauge well upstream of Rhayader is called Pant Mawr and may give a better reflection of levels than the Ddol Farm gauge which is below Rhayader.

For the record the level at ddol farm was about 0.95 compared to the 1.10 we ran it on last time. Strange because it felt like it had more water on it this time! Around a metre and this river is good to go. What impressed me about this trip was all the little reminders we kept giving each other. Dont forget to breathe, keep the blade active and so on. People are making up their on minds about what line to take aswell as trusting my judgement after viewing a rapid. From a coaching perspective I would like to do another session on a short section of grade 3 and 4 water. The bottom of the glaslyn is good for this and withypool on the irfon. Keep running the same rapid, build up confidence and skill level in a safe environment.

The rain gods will decide where we go. We will check the levels in the morning. I leave work st 8 in the morning pick up kee and head towards dobbies. We will hopefully have lots of choice. I would like to run the A5 section of the Conwy with kee and nigel and then go up to the glaslyn. Hope you can make it.

Oh Chucky, your so masterful. So many questions. Im still working on another design mate. Got the idea in my head just need to put pen to paper. We can use your contact to draw up the final design. We will collect the designs, choose two or three we like and give your friend something to work with. Lets give it a few more weeks.

Thanks Ricki . We could always have a mankini night! We had three main groups working Thursday. Rich P took a group for support strokes, Rich D instructed forward paddling and I instructed rolling with Barry and Kee instructing as well. This session worked a treat, and plenty of space freed up for people who wanted to do their own thing, which is exactly what Rob predicted. There was plenty of room to practice play boat moves. The feedback from everyone was positive and there was no need to rope the pool off. This way of doing things will only work if the paddlers think about what they would like to get from the session and let us know. If they just want to do their own thing, that’s fine. At least we know. Putting people into groups also made things better from a safety point of view. Anyway enough of me rattling on. Keep on rockin! Tim
