Oh, Dave and I will be heading in the same car to the Pony for 8:15. There is space available should anyone need to jump in.

Ultimately, I feel like pushy Cardiff for a little difference from last week. Although the we were at the Upper T last week, I could do it again. However, I guess I would be happy with the Dee should the group decide.

If anyone is up for it, I would also like to head to Cardiff to do ‘Big Friday’, where the release is on a 10. Let me know if you are keen for this Friday. The pump times are 18:00 to 20:00, so leave around 16:30.

I’d also like to return to the stomach churning HPP at some point too, so maybe another evening there.

I’d be keen….always keen on curry. Does Wombourne have a curry house?

Thanks Rich. I’m sure all will be fine, but guess its best to start on something a little less intense to get used to it. I have provisionally booked to head out with Tim on Tuesday/Wednesday, so I think the Vyrnwy will be a good river to test how it performs beforehand.

See you at the Stew at 08:15!

We regularly camp on the site next to the bridge. I really recommend this site for summer family camping. You can sit by the river all day in the sun, going for a swim or practicing with the kayak in the pool under the bridge.

    Thanks for comments so far.

To answer some of these comments, the main aim at this stage to to see who is interested. The Committee discussed and agreed to a provisional period last night, but this is obviously up for further discussion should the majority of interested have an issue with dates.

As Tim says, a brief session/reflection session would be beneficial. I certainly think this would be hugely beneficial before drawing conclusions of whether there are mistakes, where the mistakes are and where the lessons are to be learned.

I personally think video footage is good for reflection of mistakes and issues, but in a closed forum area where people can discuss privately, essentially away from social websites and YouTube. I think it was Tim or Chucky who originally mentioned a video night for this type of reflection, and I think that’s a good idea.

The aim towards perfection in a amateur club is always going to be very low, so the risk is obviously higher. However, as Tim has previously said, a good roll is essential on higher grades. This sometimes fails of course, as it did with my own situation last week on the Dulas being stuck in a hole with an uphill towback. However, i reflect back an know I attempted around three rolls before bailing. I would of gone for a fourth, but my boat was staying put. My own lessons learned is try to reach for the undercurrent upside down with my paddle in the deep water…..but not sure whether this would even be successful.

The Clewedog is always a fun river and I know it very well as my aunty lives right by it. Regularly walking the banks and paths of this river over the years, trees are regularly down.

Although I do enjoy watching clips of Go Pro helmets of people showing rivers and their lines with great footage, I’m going to be the first to say I want no further direct Go Pro footage uploaded of myself unless I personally agree to it, whether in a good or bad situation. I’ve come to the conclusion ‘still’ photos in a positive sense are my thing, and I’m becoming to dislike the way Go Pro’s are heading.

Thanks Rich. Yes, another enjoyable paddle with all.

A webcam on that slab would also be nice!

I still haven’t heard from Mr Mason and his headache. He brought me a bottle for my birthday and had to put up with me all day!

I’d tell them to to shut-up.
