NigelParticipantHi All,

NigelParticipantThanks Rich,
It was a challenging and demanding day, but really good to tackle new water .
We are away for 2 weeks from 03rd August and back on 17th. So can’t do 10th 11th sorry. Will really miss the paddling,Cheers
NigelParticipantNo MrY,
Same wave lenghth’s just me taking the P–S, which is very rare. LOLCheers 😉
NigelParticipantYou had your “Fingers” X’d then Mr Y ? lol
NigelParticipantGent’s,
My apologies to John , it was a ‘Running Brace’, not a ‘hanging brace’
Thanks Mr Y, for the kind discreet observation.😉
NigelParticipantSaturday July 13th, WKC, had a couple of options for a paddle, a few of the Guy’s ventured to Bewdley, to have a steady cruise down the river Severn, while a slightly larger group of us decided to tackle the Lower Treweryn, as a couple of us hadn’t tackled “Bala Mill Falls” and fancied the challenge.
Rich D, John, Gary,Rob Dave and his buddy Kyle from stourbridge club and finally myself, arrived at the ‘T’ around 11-30 am, things had already started to hot up, it must have been in the low 20 dgs and getting warmer ! We putin in just below Chapel Falls, apart from Rob and Dave who fancied an early thrill and putin just above Chapel and paddled down it, ask Dave when you see him I’m not telling. LOL.
We had a great paddle with some interesting and sometimes quite technical little sections due to the huge number of boulders and rocks we encountered, a few little play spots and on we went, getting hotter and hotter as time went on, then we arrived at the real “HOT SPOT” Bala mill falls, this was virgin territory for Gary and Myself, we decided not to get out and take a look as you can’t see to much from the top of the rocks, so we took some expert advice from our piers and decided to run it when we had watched a couple of the guy’s to try to pick a line. Well, we both managed it without incident, I was like a small child with the excitment, I didn’t shut up for about 20 minutes. ( sorry guy’s ). John created a new stroke which he named a hanging brace, which can be seen on the video on facebook, Great stuff John.
We got off the water around 15-30pm and as a little celebration we had a cheeky cool beer then headed home.
As always Great company and a thoroughly enjoyable day. 🙂 🙂NigelParticipantHi All,
Rich, has said it all another fab day. I must take my hat off to Matt, what an achievement first trip out, his face was an absolute picture, the look of shear fright and total concentration, Excellent Matt, “WELL DONE” .
Glad you could join us Geoff, nice to see you out.
Thanks to everyone.
By the way I was only 90 minutes late but Hey Ho, That’s Kayaking !!Cheers 😉
NigelParticipantMorning Tim,
I thought you had developed a lisp when I read the title ‘Aquabats’
Nice one keep up the good work.Cheers 😉
NigelParticipantTim,
I made my list last December it is as follows,
Short term
1/ Paddle the Ski slope and Graveyard on Tryweryn.2/ Tackle Town falls on a reasonable level.
3/ Attend at least one safety or rescue course by end of spring 2013.
4/ Paddle the Tidal estuary splitting Anglesey and Holyhead and manage a roll in the flow.
5/ Conquer “Serpants tail” by end May 2013.
6/ Challenge myself to take on some more complex runs.
Long term.
1/ Attend as many training courses as possible to improve my knowledge and understanding of the sport and water.
2/ Visit the lake district to paddle.
3/ Aim to secure a Bomb proof roll.
I managed 3, and 4, also 5, albeit 5 did take until 1st week of June.
NigelParticipantGreat work again Geoff.
Nice one.NigelParticipantI echo the above, the whole trip couldn’t have gone any better, the weather just added that bit extra and made it totally perfect. The scenery we saw and paddled amongst was truly stunning as the photo’s from the guy’s show, as best they can but,” YOU NEEDED TO BE THERE” to see feel and smell the experience.
Happy Days 🙂 🙂
NigelParticipantI echo these comments above, a Great Endurance challenge, thanks to all for the moral support and keeping up the good spirit,. Big thanks to Mr Chairman, who not only rescued my pinned paddle from a large tree in full flow of a tricky drop, he put his own life at risk to wade across the river from a safe dry bank with myself holding the throw line which was attached to his BA, then scale a large rock situated in the centre of the river, then wrestled with a LARGE fallen tree which freed my Werner blades :-), Rich D, Big thanks for chasing rescuing and even emptying my boat during the trip, he also came to the rescue after winding his way through a heavily wooded area which was very muddy and slippery under foot.
Great day thanks to all in attendance.
Cheers 🙂NigelParticipantUsual good quality producing by Mr G Lewis, nice one.
Rich we had a really good time, BUT the River Trent, not the nicest river to spend 2 hours swimming in really and 5 feet deep at the side ! Great course good crowd to be with and lovely facilities at Burton Canoe Club, another success thanks to the Chairmans organisation etc, Thanks Tim.
As you say Rich, where next week ?? 🙂
NigelParticipantKee,
What a fantastic piece of footage some brilliant action, nice one. After this I think we can put Cardiff behind you LOL 😉
Geoff, brilliant editing and the quality of footage first class. Also having the patience to compile such a long video.Cheers 🙂
