NigelParticipant
Your Bang on Tim , regards levels and predictions due to snow, I had a look at the Trent on Friday it was at .90 on the Great Haywood Gauge, I went yesterday and it was well up just due to snow melt no rain, this morning with some overnight rain and snow melt it is at 2.07. Great idea Zaf about the logging of data, and as you say Tim would be great to compile a detailed Log for the Club. 🙂
NigelParticipantHi Chucky,
Some absolutely fabulous photo’s, the scenery itself was worth a visit and the water looks fantastic, I love the apres paddle shot’s just my scene some fine food and beer along with some good company.Great trip, nice one. 🙂
NigelParticipantI wish Geoff, wouldn’t have missed it for a hangover trust me !
I am to old to suffer from hangovers now anyway.
Glad, you managed a great run without fault, superb.NigelParticipantHi All,
Glad you hade a fun day, the footage looks great Geoff, Well done to Keelan I know he had some reservations about tackling the Upper, looked like you nailed it to me Kee, Nice one.
My apologies to all for not attending I was up at 06-15am with the intention of taking some photo’s of the upper and you guy’s, I woke with a stinking headache and sore throat, took some pills and set off, I got to Dobbies around 09-00am and felt worse had a hot drink and some more pills, then had a snooze for 20 min’s , it was at this stage I decided it was not wise to attempt to paddle feeling so unwell, so headed home. I am really sorry Guy’s and on a personal note I am really GUTTED to have missed the trip.
Cheers 🙁NigelParticipantThanks Rich for a well organised trip, with the support an experience of yourself and Dave the trip was most enjoyable and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves, Duncan, relatively New to the sport and club handled the river very well and managed a couple of well executed rolls. Scot, enjoys the challenges and gives it everything, Keelan the play boat ace just bounces along, he was described as looking like a Penguin when he paddles along a decent wave train as all we can see is his head and a padddle blade each side of the water. Well done all still my favourite river so far, let’s see what 2013 brings.
Cheers 🙂
Cheers 🙂
NigelParticipantHi Geoff,
What a great achievement, well done for tacking the challenge and going for Gold.
A big step to take .See you soon
NigeNigelParticipantHi All,
Big thanks to Tim for organising this as a surprise trip, great day out, as Tim says ideal run for the Saturday club at some point. The snow covered mountains above the river looked fabulous. Ref Kayak boats is boats I broke no bones etc so move on, can’t wait for next trip (when sort a boat) Ha Ha. Thanks to Kris (Bush) and Duncan who did really well on this trip. 🙂NigelParticipantHi Richard,
Thanks for that advice, I have watched it several times now and feel it has given me a better understanding of this part of paddling.
I hope you sat on Santa’s knee gently Richard. 🙂NigelParticipantHi Geoff,
Great footage for me as I can see a number of key areas that I need to work on, without this detail it is sometimes difficult to understand why things go wrong, I can see I am yo tense sometimes and a little to lapse about entering the flow of water across that vital eddy line, I need to be more assertive as Tim says show the water who is boss, I also totally missed the good advice being given by Barry on the one drop, he was giving me the ideal line which was river left to me, right on the video I was 2 meters off line. Sorry Barry will be more observant in future . Big thanks to Richard for Saturday he was very patient trying to get me to enter eddy lines much higher and then getting my boat to turn in to the eddy, along with loving rocks ! leaning on to them and giving them a cuddle is the easiest way to free your self, I WILL GET THERE, I promise Guy’s.Cheers
Cheers
NigelParticipantHi Zaf,

NigelParticipantHi Geoff,

Great day for it with the sun being out.NigelParticipantSorry meant to say without all the help and moral support from everyone concerned non of this would have been possible for me.
Thank youNigelParticipantHi All,
A big thank you from me to Barry, Rich ,Geoff, John and Keelan, great company and I had a fantastic time on the river, the two rolls felt great, thanks to All at the club who have shown great patience and understanding and without who’s help and loads of moral support since joining have made it possible for me to really enjoy this Great sport.
The hot drinks was the least I could do.Cheers All.
Where are we going this Saturday then Guy’s ?🙂 🙂
NigelParticipantEvenin Gent’s,
I have had the Upper Conwy A5 Bridge mentioned, after looking up some detail ,around 5km grade 3 with some interesting 4 sections to tackle. Have you Guy’s covered this venue ? -
