I am 52 and have paddled for years now, mostly in kayaks, and have managed up to a grade 4. But feel happier on easier rivers. Though I have done more open canoeing now, mostly on the severn, so you can say that I am being drawn more to the dark side. I have a beard, Tilly Hat and sandles, but have not gone as far a building a fire each time I want a brew! Though can see the attraction of Kelly Kettles now. I have also managed to get hold of a spec open canoe, so are finding new ways to crash and burn. Qualifications are: Old BCU Level 2 Coach, 3 star Kayak and 4 star Canoe.
