ChuckyParticipant
hi guys
i wont be paddling with you on the saturday.
Have a great paddle tho it sounds like it could be interesting 🙂ChuckyParticipantlooks like some good talking points.
I personally find the feedback from go pro (or similar) footage invaluable.
Its the best way to self coach. My intention is to go for a week long coaching course up in Scotland around Easter time to further improve. will post info seperatly just in case anyone is interested.
ChuckyParticipantHi Ricki
i am interested but do wonder if half term week is the best plan.
Extra traffic on the roads, less availability for accommodation.ChuckyParticipantmight it be worth in light of Tim’s comments having a filter thru the names on the facebook and tie the restrictions down so only club members are on the page.
allowing a place to show videos for feedback and discussion by club members only.
Thoughts?ChuckyParticipantgreat river 🙂
fast water, lots of lessons.
As to the videos i like to see the footage of certain features.
Geoff great footage to be able to watch and asses my line.
I can take the point of how some bits make us as a club look so maybe we need to be selective about the footage used.maybe a discussion point for the AGM ?
ChuckyParticipantitems for discussion
safety training – Safety and white water training, leadership training.
Scotland trip
Bench marks for progression / star awards or other awards/ assessments.
i agree with an increased fee for non members. although does the club need to generate an extra income ?
ChuckyParticipantsounds good to me but i know with my dairy it might be challenging.
night be worth putting a date out there soon ish to work from ?
If i can make it i will.
What are people opinions on going to the same curry house as we used last year ?ChuckyParticipanta class 2 paddle in the morning and class 3/4 in the afternoon.
we can talk soon buddyChuckyParticipantgood article.
Some very valid points if possible i wouldnt mind helping with the trip to scotland and having an input 🙂
I have been guilty about dropping out last minute due to water levels. gut always willing to pay the accommodation fee if it leaves the club out of pocket. I have said this to WFCC on both of their previous dart trips.ChuckyParticipantI was not at the dart this weekend but the pics, and videos show a higher level than i have ever run it at.
I think Tim does make a good point.
Part of the definition of grade 4 is a relativity high risk of injury from a swim.
grade 5 relativity high risk of serious injury or death.
A bomb proof roll is a must.
Yes – Even the best guys swim. but they roll on a majority of conditions and swimming is very rare.
I would recommend Lee valley Olympic course as a fantastic low risk training ground for those wishing to push grade 4. great place to get into that sort of water and plenty of opportunities to practice your rolls.ChuckyParticipantgreat feed back thanks guys.
For the Scotland trip would it be possible to do Easter weekend ?
I get fixed holdiday easter monday 6th and tuesday 7th so the thursday friday before hand ? if not no worries. 🙂
points 5,6,7 and 8 Totally agree.ChuckyParticipantA few comments to Rich d’s post,
1, agree with an extra fee for none members. as long as it isnt a massive tryweryn type increase.
2. I am organizing a lakes weekend for WFCC, no reason why the capable guys couldnt come along. grade 3/4 paddling last weekend in novemeber. £50 a head for accomidation at the Holly how YHA.
3. scotland yes please.
4. would be useful and advantaous. As for deep water rescues i would suggest that unless we are doing massive lake paddling or sea kayaking it not very beneficial as most rivers we paddle the banks are close and you wouldnt be able to do any deep water rescues.
5. club kit seems good for the pool. main lacking is if we go outdoors it is facilitated by borrowing members kit. but is this something the club wants to fund ?
6. Lee Valley assessments – I think it might be worth having somewhere on the website a list of paddlers achievements star awards, BCU levels and lee valley assessments. Firstly its useful to know who has passed the assessments for organizing a trip, secondly its a good gauge of the level of paddlers.ChuckyParticipantwell done guys
ChuckyParticipantlooks nice.
they do seem to be spending alot of time upside down to swimming dont they.ChuckyParticipantI would like to do the training please.
Will depend on cost and dates tho. -
