The Kent. Nice high level of about metre today. After a quick inspection of the L shaped rapid and Force Falls section of the river we got on the river a little further up to take in a nice grade 4 section. Nice whitewater roll by Mike and interesting gopro footage of me hitting a wave that felt more like a brick wall! We arrive at the gunbarrel/l shapped weir section and have all sorts of fun! Mike swims powerfully to avoid the nasty part of it and Dav shows off going off backwards! Force falls run successfully, catch up with Dav, chat with Mike and onto the Lune. Kelly kayak vids is up and running on FB to view the fun. The Sprint and the Mint run into the Kent and I look forward to paddling those in the future.

The Lune……I really enjoyed this river from the crook to killington bridge. The river was on about a metre and was fun and bouncy. The tricky section known as the Strid was under water and therefore I would like to return again some time. Mike ran the shuttle for us and a nice coffee on the way home gave us chance to reflect and relive the day.

I will be going in that direction again Dave. Not sure which rivers though. Too many to tick off! As a side issue, Im going to be working on my own whitewater roll during this close season up on the dee and would hope lots from the club will join me. I haven’t had to roll at all this season and need to make sure its still there! Myself and the club can then approach next season with confidence. Its becoming too stressful for me looking after people when I’m at the stage now that I need looking after!

I’m keen to get in live rolling practice Tim and happy to go wherever just for practice and to work on technique.

just a thought Tim i have always found C to be a great place to practice rolling in moving water, or even knightwick.
The water is moving yet slightly messy and confused, but the longer your up side down the water is less confused and moving slower.
There is plenty of space to pick up the kit without having a big boat chase.
at Cardiff other people will help you.
