There was a sharp frost in the morning as we scraped the windscreens. Maybe that was the reason only 5 of us were out on Saturday plus the fact there was very little water about. We opted for Symonds Yat as we wouldn’t have to organise a shuttle and it has been quite a while since we were last there. The gauge at Ross on Wye was reading 0.57 which turned out to be a good level. So Dave B, John and myself met Geoff and Kee at Strensham services at 9.45am, had a quick coffee, admired the beauty of the Malvern Hills in the morning winter sun and arrived at Symonds Yat in time to get changed and be on the water just after 11am. A very enjoyable time was had by all as we attempted to improve our breaking in and out, ferry gliding and surfing. It was gone 2.15 when we got off the water as the time flew by. The low winter sun had failed to raise the temperature in the valley so we retired to the Saracens for a pint and a warm by the wood burning stove. Surely this is what Saturdays are made for !
