A group of fourteen of us headed to the Dee again for the second week running. The level was up a little to .60 on the EA gauge about 4.5 on the MEM gauge. Once there, we split into two groups with Dave Y, Kee, Scott, Will and Andy wanting to run down from Horseshoe weir and for Scott, Will and Andy to have their first runs of Town Falls. By all accounts a great time was had by all and Geoff has posted a short video (certificate 12, parental guidance ! ) as a record of events.
The weather was not as kind to us as the previous week and the water definitely felt colder, probably due to thawing snow off the hills. Nevertheless, Barry, John, Nigel, Rob, Gary, Elliot, Geoff, Shane and myself put on just below the rapid that holed Rob’s boat the previous week ( now welded, repaired and raring to go ! ). We had a good run down and spent some time playing at Trevor rapids which actually makes quite a good play spot, with everyone honing their surfing and ferrying skills. We carried on down to the get out where we all had the long haul back up to the car park because the bloke at the country park wouldn’t open the gate for us, despite Barry’s genuine bad leg.
Back up to Llangollen to hear about the exploits of the other group and to conclude another great day on the Dee. Well done Will, Scott and Andy for surviving to tell the story !March 23, 2014 at 9:22 pm #2722adminMemberNice 1 Rich,ye nice 2 see Scott an will, all had fun at serpents water woz a little higher and the tail tricker than usual.Me and Kee took a roll there and i must admit i needed a roll in anger has its been a while. After Kee ,Scot and Will played on the waves down it woz Town Falls.Andy ,Scott and Wills first time.I must admit with a little more water and only doing the right side once i wasn’t sure as i approached if i had the best line still i woz comitted and went 4 it they all followed Scott ,Wiil and Kee with a roll made it Andy took a swim.It woz a little tight 4 comfort but wot a blast.Kee ran his usual line after but Andy said enoughs enough .A grt day had!!!

Cheers 😉
