I fancy running the Usk from Sennybridge to Brecon. Never done it before. The wye/usk foundation have some strict rules for this section. CPTTM which means cant park that there mate. We need to swot up on the agreement and find out where to park etc. 9.00am start heading towards Leominster, Hay on wye and Brecon. As always let us know if your coming and we can share a lift. I am picking Mike up and therefore have a space.

Sorry, can’t make Saturday this week, son has a rugby match on the lunchtime. But out next Saturday , weather permitting.
    Have a great day.
Ran that section some time ago, it’s better on bigger water. Big and bouncy wave trains .

The plan is :-Barry is coming to my house for 8.00am and we are picking John up in Hagley at 8.15. We will be aiming to meet Tim, Paul and Dave B at Morrisons, Leominster for 9.30 to have a coffee and bacon sandwich before heading off to Sennybridge and the Usk.

Just a quick report on the paddle, Rich picked me and john up. Meeting Tim, Paul and Mick at Leominster for a coffee. Followed by group bonding by pushing Rich’s van around the icy car park to bump start it. Driving to Sennybridge, we saw the Wye (very high) and the snow covered Black Mountains (now white). Once arriving at the get in (Senneybridge) we unloaded and ran the shuttle to Aberbran.
The river is mostly a grade 2 with 3 ledge drops (the last being grade 3) but runs nicely with lots to play on. The ledges are all good places to practice your boofs, and at 0.8 is a good level. We all had a great time, finishing the trip after about 3 hours on the water. Though I really must make a note of how many bridges we have to go under before the get out, as the second or third time of saying we get out at the next bridge was getting a bit tiring.
For info at our get out bridge, there is a great play wave, though you may have to paddle down to Brecon from there. Also, yes you can paddle an open canoe over the drops ok, you just need to pump out afterwards.

Nice report Dave, must get you to do more river reports. But the Led Zeppelin song posted by Tim seems rather appropriate !!
