After paddling at Jackfield last Saturday John happened to mention that he’s paddled the Upper Tryweryn this year but not the Lower. So unless anyone has any better ideas would everyone be happy with the lower T on Saturday. John , Barry and myself fancy it so if anyone else is interested post a reply so we can sort out transport and times or we can organise it at the pool tomorrow evening.
July 9, 2014 at 10:37 pm #2988adminMemberHi Rich, Dylan asked me to take him to Symonds Yat this Saturday , but will be out next Saturday paddling. Hope you all have a great day. See you all soon..

Post a reply or text if you’re coming so we know whether we are waiting for anyone.

Eddie on Bala mill fallsJuly 13, 2014 at 10:07 am #2993Richard DParticipantThe senior citizens section of Wombourne kayak club were out again this week trading Rob for Gary ( which did nothing for the average age of the group). Geoff did calculate that had Kee been with us the average age would have been 48, without him it was a few years higher ! This was a great day for working on kayaking skills with no beginners to worry about. Geoff showed us the left hand line through the boulder garden which was new to the rest of us. A thoroughly rewarding and enjoyable paddle finished off with Bala Mill Falls. Gary came into the eddy river left where we both watched John prevent a capsize as he came through the rooster and performed a superb, instictive Low Brace, okay he missed the eddy but the Low Brace was something to be proud of ! In his earlier paddling days John was often known a ” John the swimmer” but it is a rare occurrence to see him swim now, Taking Serpent’s tail, Bala Mill Falls, Town Fall et al in his stride. Me and Gary then broke in and finished off Bala Mill, Gary just drifting on down making it look easy.
Must have a word with Tim about getting some Wombourne Kayak club T-shirt with ” Old Guys Rule” printed on them !
Who’s out next week ?July 13, 2014 at 11:16 am #2994BarryParticipantGreat day thanks to everybody

July 14, 2014 at 10:47 am #2996adminMemberI’m out this week Rich..
July 14, 2014 at 8:13 pm #2997adminMemberThanks for the few kind words from Rich about my current performance, however he forgot my “Piece de restistance” going down backwards down “Fingers” on the Upper T. and “Surfing” the wave before it sent me forwards toward “NRA” and “Chapel Falls”. I should imagine never to be seen again!!!! As I said at the time “Merde” followed by some relief as I got out in one piece.
July 14, 2014 at 10:27 pm #2998NigelParticipantLooks like another great “Wombles” day out, sorry I missed it. Only good thing about me not being there is it kept the average age down lol ! I hope to be out Saturday Guy’s and Girls, it depends on what Tyler has planned for his Birthday ?
I am really getting withdrawal symptoms. I did have a nice couple of hours with Paul at Mile End on Wednesday and the weather was excellent. 😉July 15, 2014 at 5:23 am #2999TimMemberWell done guys! John is willing to have a go at different rapids and like you say Rich he keeps being successful. In fact look at the successes by our paddlers on lots of rivers this year. Wish I could have been there.
