In attendance……..Ricki, Tim, Barry, Rich, Mick
Apologies………Gary, PaulTim started the meeting with a lager shandy……….
1. Ricki is filling the role of secretary until the AGM in Feb. He will provide the main contact between us and Canoe England. He discovered that leaving his notes out on the table unattended isn’t wise! Especially with a Chairman with a childish sense of humour! Thanks for taking on the role mate!
2. We discussed our recent river trips on the Leven, Wye, Llugwy, Wnion, Towi. Great start to the season. Well done Team Wombourne.
3. A trip to Scotland over Easter is a possibility. We will plan for a trip during the school holiday to allow Kee to come.
4. We will purchase Airbags for the riot magnum and we will get the drain plug sorted.
5. We will discuss increasing the pool charge for non members at the next AGM. The committee thinks £9 is appropriate. After 4 session the non member must prove membership of a bcu affiliated club or individual bcu membership.
6. We discussed the standard of personal kit worn by paddlers. The river and air temps are dropping now and therefore suitable kit must now be worn by all of us. This is a real safety issue. A swim or two on the river in the middle of nowhere could lead to real problems.
7. Safety Training. We will do more in the pool and more outside. Deep water rescues will be included. When people walk through the doors of the club we have no idea which direction they are planning to take the sport. We need to cover all bases. Most of us have been on lakes, the sea and estuaries at some point.
8. Lee Valley Assessments……..These are definitely excellent indicators of a paddlers ability. Lets encourage everyone wanting to push towards continuous grade 4 to go on the Olympic course at Lee Valley. Its the safest environment in which to experience that sort of water.
9. We have £3,700 in the bank and we have decided to upgrade our boat stock. The next boat will probably be a Nomad, New Mamba, Burn type of craft.
10. Paul has been working really hard at sorting out protection policies for the club. We plan to have a new drop down menu on the website for us to access them all. Thanks Paul.
11. A few things need to be changed on the membership form. The logo and contact numbers.Lots discussed at the meeting. Thanks to the committee and for the suggestions posted by club members.
