I enjoyed reading Hugh Kingdon’s kayaking tips and although he’s obviously paddling much bigger rivers and higher grades of water than a lot of aspire to the advice is well worth taking in. Afraid I can’t paddle this Saturday as I’m taking my nephew and his kids on the Severn Valley Railway Santa special !But Nigel and Geoff if you don’t get out this weekend try some armchair training by looking at :-
http://www.sweetwatercoaching.co.uk Click on skills then river running skills then choose the option eddy out and watch the short video and follow the notes. Looks like the upper Tryweryn above the Graveyard, a great training venue when it opens again next year.

    Hi Richard,
Thanks for that advice, I have watched it several times now and feel it has given me a better understanding of this part of paddling.
I hope you sat on Santa’s knee gently Richard. 🙂
