This is a great section of river fed by one of the wettest areas in Wales. In the team today I was the only one who had run the river before. I guess this adds a bit more pressure on me, increases the pulse rate for the first timers but adds to the excitement. John, Paul and George (Kee) had this river on their todo list and it was a pleasure to take them. The teamwork today was spot on, with good levels of communication and everyone looking really focused. Kee made a tight eddy on bryn bras and was a great middle marker for us showing us the route down. John and Paul looked comfortable on the river, making their lines, ferry gliding with ease and demonstrated great awareness. Acer performed well with a superb attitude. He plopped out the back of a few eddies but with his relative inexperience that’s no major issue!

I sat at the bottom of Bryn Bras watching and smiling as each of our group successfully come through and then I started to breathe again.

Thanks for an enjoyable paddle. Please feel free to provide feedback on my performance (good or bad).

Thanks for the report Tim, glad everyone had a great time and wish I could have been there. Next time the level is around 0.7 at Cwmlarnech can we run down from Ysbyty Ifan doing the upper and A5 section as I haven,t done the top section. Great to see 4 people trying out their skills on another river, great stuff.

The river is great, really enjoyed it and somewhere I’d look forward to paddling again and again. Leadership all good; Bryn Bras – we didn’t scout, we were told the line and ran it without too much trouble. Another group who ran it at the same time as us ended up with kit and paddlers strewn all over the place. Can’t beat a bit of river nous!!

Great leadership by Tim and description of key “Drops”, allowed us all to be successful on this river.
