    A Saturday in Cardiff – 19th July 2014

    As promised, but rather late!

On Saturday 19th July, seven Wombles consisting of Gary, Elliot, Rich D, Dave Y, Paul, Andy, and I (hopefully included all!) decided to head down to the capital of Wales. A capital famous for producing the likes of Roald Dahl, Ryan Giggs, the Millennium Stadium and Super Furry Animals, but better known to us as city with a feisty white water venue!

Starting is what can be described as a ‘grade 6’ stormy weather and getting ready for a change of clothes before setting out, off down the motorways and trunk roads we all set, getting there fairly early for an all-day ‘8’ release.

Since my last outing, I immediately noticed the slight change in things around the site. The course had slightly altered and become a point of debate all day, the car park entry changed again, and a new surfing/body boarding place had been added to the side (tempted!).

After bureaucracy gone mad, a hefty exchange of finances and a trip to the changing rooms, we all randomly ventured to the get-in ready to enter onto the conveyor belt of no-return. The water was like a sauna and the weather was un-expectantly glorious. After a bit of dicking around in the bay, we entered the Conveyor of Doom loaded with rafters full of drunken stag-doo-ees….and raft-fest it was. The first runs of the day were loaded with these over-sized inner tubes ready to commit you to an underwater treat. Nevertheless, the Wombles, in true fashion, loved it.

Most of the day was spent whizzing around the course, with many commenting on how much they enjoyed the day and some commenting on how they made gains from using the course. One thing for sure, Cardiff always deserves the respect as a pushy/choppy man-made white water course!

After a circling the venue up to double figured amounts and getting changed, we all reflected on the day drinking a nice hot beverage from the venues cafe balcony and headed back home to the delights….in my case a journey with Dave Y catching flies, a fridge full of beer and house full of nutters!

    Top day guys!
