Ive picked up some good tips from this course over the weekend which involved leadership skills on the lower T and personal skills on the dee from horseshoe down to Llangollen. The emphasis throughout was ensuring the leader had good line of sight with the other paddlers and the good simple use of hand signals. I would like to organise 4 star training for our club and with respect to this please register your interest here. This is a two day course with a two day assessment to be taken within 12 months.
The four star award is a BCU award which provides you with the leadership skills to safely lead a peer group down grade 2 water (lower T) and short stretches of grade 3(serpents tail). Its what we do anyway but just adds a bit more more structure and a framework to our river runs. For those who go onto assessment there is a requirement to roll both sides!
