Zaf has sadly passed away and he will be missed by all at Wombourne. Here are a few of my memories.

I remember a particular road trip to the Upper Tryweryn where he had me smiling all the way there and back. He was asked in the cafĂ© if he was wearing the prescription goggles for a bet. “Do you charge extra for the abuse?” he replied!

I remember turning up to a Thursday pool session and there he was exercising in the aqua aerobics class prior to our paddle session. That was zaf, he was willing to give things a go.

He worked hard at his kayaking roll and the above video shows how well it paid off. He achieved standards of paddling which surprised many of us.

One evening at Ludlow he was faffing with his keys on the landing jetty. He either knocked them or dropped them, but either way they ended up at the bottom of the river! Doh!

I wanted to be there to say goodbye today but was unable to make the change in venue. I will raise a glass to you tonight.

Thanks Tim for some special memories of Zaf, and his engaging personality and sense of humour. He contributed so much to the sport while he graced himself with his presence. He will be sadly missed.
