Well, I woke up and looked in the mirror and asked the usual question…….”Mirror, Mirror on the wall who is the best paddler in the club?”
“It used to be Mark, ” the Mirror replied. ” But this young upstart named Kee is now the one to beat.” That mirror is now in the bin by the way.
We did a bit of a training session today on a grade 4 section of the Irfon which Chris Sladen describes as a “beautiful tiered rapid.” It is a fantastic rapid and we we ran it taking different lines looking at Key strokes whilst trying to improve technique. I love these types of sessions. The beauty of this rapid is that the car is parked nearby, safety can be easily set up and the rapid can be run repeatedly. The level was about .82m. Too low for the upper section of river but just right for this rapid. The video footage of kee shows his first run and his last run.
A quick pint in the three horse shoes on the way home and a few laughs listening to my Ken Dodd cd. ” The male baboon for sustenance and nutrition likes to store its nuts in its mouth……. so if your ever attacked by one kick him in the gob!”
