Having been up to the Tryweryn last week and wanting to keep away from the crowds at the “T” fest our choice was again limited. Loads of rain on Friday and during the early hours of Saturday morning made little difference to river levels. So once again it was Holme Pierrepont that won the vote ! This week Gary, John Geoff, Kee, Simon, Anto and myself made up the group. John and Simon paddling there for the first time. Another great day was had by all with everybody full of enthusiasm and rising to the challenge. Geoff ran the whole course for the first time without a problem while some of us sat in eddies watching Anto cruising against the flow in his slalom boat having previously paddled there in competitions. The venue is well used by many of the potential England hopefuls for the Rio Olympics training there, including Fiona Pennie ( 2014 World silver medallist, already pre-selected). Well if it’s good enough for them, it’s good enough for Wombourne Kayak Club even though John didn’t like the re-circulating eddies !!
