There are some great articles out there discussing club trips and things that need to be put in place. These are the notes from another club but could be adapted for our own purposes. I’m thinking about the possible trip to Scotland and making sure it doesn’t become farcical. The committee will shortly have a meeting about the trip to Scotland and will form a set of guidelines with reference to up front payment, the grade of river we run, the accommodation, and a limit on numbers. The biggest thing for me is making a firm commitment. Your either coming on the whole trip or your not. Day trippers, people doing the hokey cokey over whether their coming, people deciding at the last minute whether their coming, people turning up at the meeting place unannounced without the organiser being given a courtesy call, complete strangers being invited without the organiser being contacted, people cancelling at the last minute complicates things and isn’t fair on the paddlers who have committed to a trip at an early stage. It is also not fair on the person organising the trip.

Some very valid points if possible i wouldnt mind helping with the trip to scotland and having an input 🙂
I have been guilty about dropping out last minute due to water levels. gut always willing to pay the accommodation fee if it leaves the club out of pocket. I have said this to WFCC on both of their previous dart trips.November 19, 2014 at 12:10 pm #3401TimMemberThanks for putting your name forward. The stumbling block Chucky is the fact that only a grade 2 trip will be suitable for the paddlers at the club. I would assume you will want to push for a higher grade. Now that creates problems. How to keep everyone happy.

we can talk soon buddyNovember 19, 2014 at 7:01 pm #3403adminMemberGlanced at the checklist and prevents any confusion between members, everyone will know where they stand and helps to remind us just in case we forget anything. Thanks for doing the research.
November 19, 2014 at 8:56 pm #3404TimMemberThanks for supporting the idea john. Its a more professional way to do things.
November 19, 2014 at 10:02 pm #3405NigelParticipantHad a glance at the brief Timbo, and it makes perfect sense. A little tweaking to suit the Clubs personal requirements and the “Job is a gud Un”‘. Every one is given an equal opportunity to engage they just need to plan ahead and commit. 😉
November 19, 2014 at 10:13 pm #3406TimMemberCheers Nige. They say the best ideas are normally stolen! I like the bit where it says you will not keep everyone happy!
November 19, 2014 at 10:15 pm #3407MickParticipantIt is a very good checklist Tim. I am sure we can adapt it to suit our membership.
One thing for all to remember is item 11. Members only on the trips. Non members are not covered by our insurance.
November 19, 2014 at 10:36 pm #3408NigelParticipantYour right Tim, “you can please some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time” !
Very valid point Mick, regarding insurance, I believe the Club BCU cover is only valid to fully paid up members. Happy days 😉 -
