After a brief delay at Dobbies on the A5 (…is there….Oh…the one in Shrewsbury…) a total of 9 of us decided to paddle below Town falls to the Country park.

A nervous looking Ken and Shane were joined by Dave B in being 1st timers to this paddle.
After a brief warm up, accompanied with our 4 legged friend we set off.

The 1st half was a mainly flat paddle with features few and far between. This gave chance for some fun with Kee, Barry and Shane playing keepie uppie with a ball, and the discovery of a message in a bottle…!
The 1st feature of note was a bend in the river with a fast flow river left. We played here a while ferrying etc then had a stone skimming challenge on the bank. (not going to say who won but I want Nige drug tested )

Further on down Rich found a great eddy to practice breaking out, then down to the rapids above Trevor and then Trevor rapids.
Usual surf and ferry, wave under the aqueduct and then on.

The river’s changed here a little with the tricky little island being washed away to leave a new tricky little feature.

Another stretch of flat water and small wave trains to the get out at the railway bridge and then the long hike to the car park.
Usual refreshments and banter, then a hasty shuttle run to beat the 5pm car park closure.

9 hours door to door and loved every minute, thanks guys…!

Well done Geoff and Nigel, great reports as usual and some great pictures and video from Barry. Good to have Ken join us for his first real river trip and good to see him do so well and enjoy it.
Loved the littlest Hobo video Geoff, brought back childhood memories, anyone else remember it ?
