    Good Morning Gent’s,

I have eventually managed to post a video from our paddle yesterday, on the Wombourne Facebook page. Big thanks to Rob who shot the footage and I apologise for the lack of expertise in editing it. Sorry Geoff.

    Cheers

Saturday July 13th, WKC, had a couple of options for a paddle, a few of the Guy’s ventured to Bewdley, to have a steady cruise down the river Severn, while a slightly larger group of us decided to tackle the Lower Treweryn, as a couple of us hadn’t tackled “Bala Mill Falls” and fancied the challenge.
Rich D, John, Gary,Rob Dave and his buddy Kyle from stourbridge club and finally myself, arrived at the ‘T’ around 11-30 am, things had already started to hot up, it must have been in the low 20 dgs and getting warmer ! We putin in just below Chapel Falls, apart from Rob and Dave who fancied an early thrill and putin just above Chapel and paddled down it, ask Dave when you see him I’m not telling. LOL.
We had a great paddle with some interesting and sometimes quite technical little sections due to the huge number of boulders and rocks we encountered, a few little play spots and on we went, getting hotter and hotter as time went on, then we arrived at the real “HOT SPOT” Bala mill falls, this was virgin territory for Gary and Myself, we decided not to get out and take a look as you can’t see to much from the top of the rocks, so we took some expert advice from our piers and decided to run it when we had watched a couple of the guy’s to try to pick a line. Well, we both managed it without incident, I was like a small child with the excitment, I didn’t shut up for about 20 minutes. ( sorry guy’s ). John created a new stroke which he named a hanging brace, which can be seen on the video on facebook, Great stuff John.
We got off the water around 15-30pm and as a little celebration we had a cheeky cool beer then headed home.
As always Great company and a thoroughly enjoyable day. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Great report Nigel. I had a brilliant day thanks to you guys and the celebratory beer was a great way to end the day. Thanks for shooting the video footage to Rob for capturing Gary and Nigel’s first runs of Bala Mill Falls although I was a little worried at one stage we may have lost our photographer as he spun past me and did half of the falls backwards. Well done Rob for keeping your composure and emerging at the bottom the right way up !
    Superb day.

    Gent’s,
My apologies to John , it was a ‘Running Brace’, not a ‘hanging brace’
Thanks Mr Y, for the kind discreet observation.

It really was “Running Brace” but it did the job and helped to maintain a 100% pass rate by everyone for completing Bala Mill Falls, well done everyone, another brillient day by all, thanks John
