Today Saturday 8Th June, Barry, Rich D his Son Oliver ,Geoff , Kee, Rob John and Myself ventured to Llangollen to have a Saturday paddle, the weather was fabulous beautiful sunshine along the way and it stayed with us all through the paddle. We put in at Horseshoe weir and warmed up above the weir before sliding down the left side of the weir and continuing down stream towards Chain bridge the level was low and this section a little scrapey, the Gauge at Mile end Mill was around 2.5 , we played at Chain bridge, for some time Rich D and Oliver executing some nice surfing in one of the waves about two thirds of the way down the Chain bridge rapid section. From here we paddled towards the main attraction, “Serpants Tail”, this is a lovely section of the Dee and very well known, it was very bouncy through the top section and very low river left at the drop in, the end of the run which in higher water produces a nasty stopper, was extremely narrow due to the low level, the gap being no more than 5 feet wide which made it very interesting. Some great video footage and stills were taken which I am sure the “Pro’s” Geoff and Barry will grace us with once they get chance to process and load the relevant action on Youtube, facebook etc.
Had a great day again thanks to all .
Cheers 🙂
